What is Coaching?
Coaching is about you and getting you to where you’ve always dreamed you would be.
Coaching is a partnership between the coach and client with the intention of facilitating a client to achieve their personally defined goals and objectives.
Coaching works by partnering with a client to define their process of growth and future. It’s about looking forward versus looking to the past.
Coaching is not therapy although topics do arise where therapy can be beneficial.
As professional coaches, we will uncover speed bumps that may be holding you back and then discuss methods to strategically create action plans to help you move forward.
What happens in a coaching session?
In a one-hour session, it’s the client’s responsibility to determine the topic and path of discussion. The coach in turn creates a confidential and comfortable space for reflection and discussion.
Through active listening and powerful questioning, the coach partners with the client to build awareness, perspectives and confidence. The client is encouraged to explore avenues for growth and understanding. Together they create synergy, a strategy and a plan, using tools they devise together for the client to move forward in an empowered, sustainable, and accountable process of change. Typically, a coach and client will work together for several weeks, once to twice a week as needed. A coaching relationship can last as long as the client requires but most last 4- 6 months.
What is the client’s role in the process?
Coaching empowers individuals to transform both their personal and professional lives. The client is encouraged to learn to understand their personal power in decision making; understand their perceptions and held belief systems. The client is expected to come to meetings on time and in whatever mindset they are currently feeling. There is never any expectation for a specific outcome per session, instead, the client is encouraged to allow the coaching process to discuss, elucidate and move forward.
